Hanumanalaya Hotel – the hidden jewel in Siem Reap, Cambodia

You’re tired, uncertain and in unfamiliar territory and looking for reassurance.

You could stay at one of the many five star, impersonal, over priced locations or if you’re on a budget, but want pure luxury, warmth and very personal intimate service, then this is place to stay.

Inspiration, passion and attention to detail are behind the stunning design of this twelve room boutique hotel.

Bravo to the inspirational designer.

The Cambodian charm of the place is difficult to portray in words.

The location is not far from the river and sits between two main roads that lead to Siem Reaps centre and famous Anghor What.

Think Tomb Raider, Raiders of the Lost Ark.. and you start to understand the character behind this remarkable place.

Being only small you are welcomed with warmth and a desire to please.

Nothing possibly can prepare you for the rooms … and this one is not the best!

This bed is the size of two doubles.. not sure what you would call that… a Super Kingsize?

Hardwood floors and furniture offset the clean white walls.

The bathroom has an uncomplicated perfectly shaped bath for two? And a huge walk in shower that gives the most fantastic rainforest refreshing end to a hot day.

The toilet is located as oddly as this sounds in the walk in shower area, but worry not as the shower is far enough away to not wet the toilet when showering and the floor gently slopes away to the drain to leave a dry floor area.

The wooden elephants made from solid Would act as stools or foot rests complimenting a separate seating area to relax in.

It’s the small things that matter like remote airconditioning that can be operated from the bed, light and fan swiches in the middle of the headboard, safe, fridge, towels, seating areas and space.

Then there is a hair dryer in front of its own dressing table with lights plus and chair.

Plug sockets everywhere and at a sensible height too.

And much much more!

This is a great place to stay if Siem Reap is on your destination list … it was certainly on mine and we’re not disappointed.
