Lisbon and its famous Tram – A model worth building

When I was a little boy my late father took the family on a cruise. I remember visiting various European destinations.

One that sticks in my mind was Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

The city, like so many of these Mediterranean destinations has an old part of the city.

Flanked by old, deteriorating buildings, narrow streets and trams you can’t help but fall in love with the atmosphere that it evokes.

So I decided to set about building a model of the famous Lisbon Tram.

I discovered a great company called OcCre that makes variety of challenging models including various famous city trams.

The kit I received came in a well packaged box containing detailed plans and instructions.

The project took me a number of months because I didn’t rush, there was no need to, but each part of the project was actually quite involved.

The kit involved building the floor of the tram, staining it and then building the seats with look alike leather.

As you can see from the photos these photos you need patience, lots of it, but each stage is rewarded with satisfaction.

Gradually the sides go up with windows, I then painted the sides.

Finally the ends of the trams are constructed, painted and then the work commenced on the roof, wheels and finishing touches.

I highly recommend OcCre for models. Check them out here
