Katambunga House, Arusha, Tanzania – The perfect accommodation to the start of a safari adventure

We landed at JRO International Airport and were met by our driver, Emanuelle, from Metambezi Safaris. Although we were exhausted, we still had an hour-long transfer to our hotel on the outskirts of Arusha.

We were in Tanzania, located on the East side of Africa. Kenya surrounds us in the North, the Indian Ocean to the east, and the Pemba, Zanzibar, and Mafia islands. To the north-west of the country are Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The country borders Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south.

Tanzania is home to the Serengeti National Park, where we are headed. It covers an area of approximately 30,000 km2 and is protected by game reserves.

We needed 24 hours of rest after our long journey from the UK, and we could not have asked for a more perfect location. On the edge of town, we stayed at the lovely Katambuga House—less of a hotel and more of a home.

The staff, accommodation, food, and pool area were perfect. This is one of several Entara locations, and it is quiet and set amongst the gardens.

The staff welcomed us with open arms, cool drinks and hot towels.

I loved the lounge area, which set the tone of Africa beautifully.

This trip to Tanzania might not have happened without the inspiration of the African and Oriental Travel Co. They booked our first night and two Entara camps and sorted out our safari guide from Metambizi. Speak to Raf and Francisca to get your safari organised here.
