We travelled quite a distance to have dinner at Lily Mae’s with friends based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor and based on their very well designed website.
Whilst the presentation was very good, sadly for me the restaurant punches above its station. The quality of the restaurant is more like a compact cafe with good seating but a bland decor and atmosphere.
Please don’t get me wrong everyone was efficient, friendly and polite but Lily Mae’s offers quality food at quality pricing in a less than quality surrounding. The holding area has four huge, but comfortable settees that are very tightly spaced. Not a major issue.
I had the lamb for the main which came with a mash … Whilst it looked well presented, tasted superb, sadly the lamb was grizzly and tough… The headwaiter actually went out of his way to bring a freshly cooked portion… Actually very similar to the first.
If you were to ask would I return .. The answer is definitely yes… For a special night out with friends … I don’t think so.
Great place let down by the layout and decor.
