Due South from Newby Bridge, between Ulverston and Grange-over-Sands is a small village called Cartmel. It’s quaint, has a race course, a 12th century priory and a Michelin star restaurant.
Impressive!
The day was glorious when we visited, the sprinklers were out ensuring that the racecourse looked it’s best for the meetings planned at the weekend.

In the priory, visitors were encouraged to pop in and see the exhibition of masks bringing attention to mental health issues.

As we walked through this quaint village you saw the beauty of the village and the attention to detail.

I admit the weather enhanced our visit but I would still recommend a visit to Cartmel, you won’t regret it.
