Virtual Machu Picchu Experience, Manchester – We really felt we were there!

Manchester city centre reached via the very efficient Metrolink, was very cold on the day we arrived for our Virtual Machu Picchu tour

Not two minutes walk from the Market Street Met stop is the Machu Picchu “Journey to the lost city” visual experience and tour.

I’ve never done this sort of thing before and later in the year I will be travelling to Peru and visiting Machu Picchu, so when the opportunity presented itself to experience a tour of Machu Picchu as it would have been in the 15th century, we were excited.

On arrival we were offered lockers for our coats, followed by a safety briefing and registration.

Our headsets were amazing, they were well padded and allowed us to wear our glasses. The very welcoming staff fitted them to our heads carefully and efficiently before setting us off on our tour.

The perfect 360 degree view we had presented a red matrix wall to indicate any solid structures and the sound was well placed right over our ears. The headsets were comfortable and perfectly adjusted and balanced too.

Our guide for the tour was an animated and funny flying robot called Teri. He was with us the entire time bringing the past, history and views to life.

The large area where the tour takes place transforms the whole experience into the holodeck!

We were even joined by a friendly Lama.

Ruins are not always the easiest sites globally to visit without guides to explain what exactly you are seeing and why. This animated tour with ruins, people and history, was rebuilt to help us visualise and appreciate the past.

The Incas were clever people and this sacred lost city is brought to life by this tour.

At 2430 metres (7970 feet) it was not discovered until 1911. It is now a UNESCO world heritage site and classed as one of the seven wonders of the world and when you’ve completed this virtual tour you’ll understand why.

I highly recommend this. It’s just 45 minutes duration and was perfectly located. If you want to book and experience this amazing vitual tour of Machu Picchu then take a look at their website here
