The Beehive Inn, Combs, Derbyshire – A hidden country pub and amazing food, close to Buxton

It was probably the hottest day of the year and we had a day out with friends in Buxton.

Little did we know that today was the annual carnival.

The floats representing local businesses, community groups and charities pulled out all the stops. The locals too were part of the festivities.

There were wardens, people collecting for charity and the spectators.

There were markets and street performers too, many part of the Buxton Fringe.

The photos here show just some of the many floats and people of the day.

By the time we left we decided to find a country pub for an early dinner and were advised to check out the one in Combs (pronounced like fumes).

It’s not a big place and on arrival the outside sitting area was full. Inside there was the bar and a small farm shop.

The menu was creative with everything from Pizza to traditional English dishes.

There were sides too and specials on the chalk boards on the wall.

There were certainly no airs or graces, but just good wholesome food served by very friendly staff.

Although we only had main courses because we were hot and tired, I wish we had had room for starters and desserts.

We’ll be back very soon I suspect, to both Buxton and this little gem.

You can find out more about The Beehive here.

Highly recommend it.
