Look, you go to all this trouble to find the best deal, the best location a great hotel and good reviews and then you arrive.
Well I have to be honest i genuinely thought the hotel being in New york would be way bigger than it was… but having said that you doorman greets you and you walk right in to the very small entrance lobby in front of the reception desk.
As you look around you are thrown back in time… a bit like the old movies in the 1920’s. Very beautiful… colourful, but very subdued lighting.
The staff are so helpful and courteous, but beware of the tip culture here.
We were taken to our room on the top floor, 12th to be exact. The room was just a bit bigger than the King Size bed that filled the room and had a bathroom and wardrobe that made my own space at home look enormous. All that said this was very nice. Large screen opposite the bed on the wall, desk, mirrors, iron and ironing board all there for us.
Best thing about the States and no difference here for me was the free wifi. Allowed us to use our iPad whilst there all the time.
After three nights our daughters joined us and we upgraded to suite.
One person that stood out for over and above all the staff was Terrin. What an ambassador for the hotel! This guy is responsive by email, friendly and welcoming in person and never once left me feeling he was waiting on a tip. A genuinely nice guy that helped make our stay special.
As I said, we changed rooms to a suite on the 10th floor. Wow! all I can say is pay the extra! The room was way bigger than our first room and that was just our room. Then we had a full sized lounge which was converted to sleep my daughters.
Oh, I nearly forgot… the location is incredible. Come out of the froth door, turn right and walk about 5 minutes and you’re in the heart of time square.
Would I stay here again… sure… I would be nuts not to!
