You know its time to refurb your bathroom when the hotel bathrooms are looking considerably better than your own!
We’ve lived in our home for almost 35 years and haven’t done anything with the main bathroom since we moved in all those years ago, when we added the pebble pink bathroom suite, an electric shower over the bath, a shower curtain and later a pink carpet!
It was time to do some serious home improvements, but despite much discussion and guidance on design we found it difficult to remove the bath altogether. After all, we have five grandchildren and we have a walk-in shower in our bedroom en suite.
So having booked the legendary Michael Scott again!, we patiently waited during the pandemic years until we got to a date when he would start the work.
I did all the shopping myself online, looking for the best deals for top quality fittings.
My wife and I visited a beautiful store called Bathe in Wigan where we chose a great sink and cupboards by Peli.
The rest of the fittings were Hans Grohe.
Having chosen tiles from The Tile Shop in Heywood (the staff here are so helpful), everything was planned to be delivered the week Michael would start.
We sealed our bedroom suite with a really clever zipped clear door cover, but be warned it literally pulled off the paint at the end of the job from the architrave.
The first part of the job was taking everything out of the bathroom and going back to brick work.
All the walls, floor and ceiling needed to be prepared along with the wiring, plumbing and underfloor heating.
The tiles needed to be fitted, concealed lighting, towel radiator, toilet plumbed and when all the preparation had been made the day arrived when the furniture was finally fitted.
