We spent the most delightful family weekend in the Cotswolds recently. My entire family consisting of six adults and five grandchildren arrived at our weekend retreat in Somerford Keynes not far from Cirencester.
The drive here was pretty awful to be honest because there were accidents on the motorways that frustrated our journey, however we broke up the trip to visit a National Trust site on route.
Lower Mill Estates is made up of the beautiful luxury homes that overlook a number of small lakes, set amongst a nature reserve, where you can paddle board, enjoy a leisurely rowing boat or just sit and admire the wildlife.
We accessed this amazing house via the key safe outside the front door just before the weekend shopping arrived. The entire site here is
This particular house was spacious, bright, modern and was very well apointed with predominatly Calligaris furniture.
The interior was open plan, with three bedrooms on the first floor and two on the top floor. There was an en suite for the master bedroom on the first floor and a bath in the room that had views overlooking the lake.
I loved the use of the practical space, appliances and storage. Very impressive.
The design was passionate, thoughtful and airy … just look at this use of space over the kitchen that ran through the side of the house to the top floor.
There was even a games room in an outside building the size of a garage with TV, soccer table, games machine and sofa.
A special mention must go to the art in this house too. It was modern, quirky and thoughtful throughout.
This is a truly gorgeous place to relax and unwind. They even have a spa, places to eat, outdoor play, tennis courts and even a private hire soft play that our grandchildren loved!
Some of the site is still in development, but that shouldn’t put you off. the activity hub can provide you with canoes, paddle boards, bikes and much more.
I think the photos speak for themselves … stunning! I wouldn’t hesistate in recommending a break here at Lower Mill Estates that you can book here.
Talking of which if you should need to go there are plenty of places to relieve yourself.
