It’s been a long time since we last visited Grand Pacific located at the top of King Street, Manchester.
We had heard that there was a new improved menu and thought we’d give it a try.
When you first walk in through the front entrance you’re confronted by a grand wooden staircase leading to the first floor. It’s very impressive and adds a certain ‘ne sais quoi’ to the establishment that you definitely don’t find elsewhere these days.
It’s like going back to the colonial times in decor, sort of roaring ’20s and then again it has a certain modern spin on it too.
Nothing makes the start to a wonderful night than a venue with a great atmosphere and fabulous staff. Grand Pacific offers both of these.
Our waitress called Constantina is a credit to Grand Pacific. She’s a young lady from Greece that speaks English better than the average Brit! Her in-depth, clear and enlightening explanation of the dishes contained in the imaginative menu was an added and welcome bonus.
We began our meal with two starters
We also had a Soy & Treacle cured Salmon accompanied by a little Wasabi, Creme Fraiche and Soy Sauce.
The houmus dish looked great but I prefer a dish that punches more flavour.
The cured salmon was delicious.
For our main course, we opted for a new dish called Buri Bop Korean Hot Plate at £14.95 per person. A fun dish that you cook yourself on a hot skillet. It comes with Forbidden Rice, Hen’s Egg Yolk, Korean Golbi Sauce all of which you mix together as it cooks with one of the following choices:
Tiger Prawn
Beef
Sashimi Tuna
Vegetarian (Tofu, Asparagus, Broccoli) (V)
This was really original and it tasted
I really enjoyed this dish and highly recommend it.
We also had the Baked Salmon with an Indonesian Salad, Pomegranate and a Satay Dressing at £17.95 .. we found this to be incredible!
The meal would not have been complete for us without the Tenderstem Broccoli in a Miso Soy & Sesame dressing, Caramelised Mushrooms & Peppers, a mix of Brown Chestnut, Shittake, Shimeji & Padron Peppers and we also had Gunpowder Potatoes.
Our final course was a new and original Iced Peanut Butter Parfait which bordered more on ice cream, along with another great dessert Pineapple Cheesecake with Crème Fraîche and a Raspberry Coulis. Both were superb and offered a mouth watering experience.
We really enjoyed our evening out at Grand Pacific and I’m sure you will too. The improved menu, the atmosphere and the original blends of spices and flavours should be sufficient to encourage you to give Grand Pacific a try.
I suggest you take a closer look at the website and the menus, get a table booked and have a date night .. you owe it to yourselves!
