Brighton is located on the south coast of England. It was The place to visit by the upper class in the summer months and led to a town and area that quickly prospered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1864 The Grand Hotel was opened and remains to this day probably the most expensive hotel on the coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly it is infamous for the attempted assasination on then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who was there for the Conservative party conference. The Provisional IRA planted a bomb that left cabinet member Norman Tebbit’s wife paralysed. Margaret Thatcher survived and opened the conference the following morning in defiance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel has columns of marble and grand stair cases that are photo worthy. The rooms are spacious but any modernising would strip this hotel of its magnificence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
