Our trip from Manchester to London Gatwick was certainly made more eventful by the extensive speed restrictions by not such smart motorways. Thank goodness we weren\u2019t travelling North or we would have been caught in huge traffic jams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we arrived at Gatwick North our sat nav guided us to a closed road to the hotel. However a quick call identified that you can\u2019t actually drive up to the hotel, but instead you are expected to make your way through the terminal to the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had booked the short stay for one night followed by two weeks with the valet parking. We parked up on level 4, unloaded the baggage and looked for non existent signs to guide us to the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signage in Gatwick has to be the worst I have ever seen. It was horrendous! We eventually found the entrance to a tunnel through to the Hampton by Hilton, Gatwick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The obvious positive was that we could not be closer to the departures for the following morning to cart our luggage over to the check in desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, the checkin online for BA was down again, so that would have to wait until morning. We had however completed ‘Verifly’ and this collected and confirmed all our documents in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, the checkin process at the hotel was really quick. We were allocated a room on the same floor as the reception, room 103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room was specifically fitted to accommodate wheelchairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would have had no issue with this, however the shower was pathetic with a miserable amount of water coming from a wall mounted shower head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The small sink was so high up with a rear fitted tap that I doubt that the brains behind it\u2019s specification, fitting or consideration gave any thought to the fact no wheelchair user would ever be able to use it. Very unimpressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said I would stay here again and that was despite a really very basic included breakfast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
