Sicily, it’s a place that is not readily on my radar and a location that makes me think about Mafia, pasta and the Sicilian charm.<\/p>\n

If we had not been invited to the wedding of our special friends’ daughter to a beautiful girl from Palermo we would not be here.<\/p>\n

So our accommodation was one of the city’s central hotels called Frederico II.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The one-way system meant that we circled the hotel area four times before figuring out how to get to the front door, but I’m sure it was Google maps that caused the issue.<\/p>\n

This is a minimalist hotel, in every sense of the word.<\/p>\n

Whilst the hotel was pleasant and the room we were given spacious, there were no hooks in the room, only a couple of small bulbs which meant the lighting was poor and one plug point.<\/p>\n

The bathroom consisted of a shower, sink, bidet and toilet. Even the toilet paper was minimal and certainly not the highest quality.<\/p>\n

The room was classed as an executive room but offered little that would have you believe it was an upgrade apart from its size.<\/p>\n

The hotel staff and decor were really pleasant.<\/p>\n

Breakfast was on the fifth floor where both cooked and continental were served.<\/p>\n

We were told by friends that there was a pool but that we would have to pay extra to use it… given the cost of the room .. I felt it should have been included.<\/p>\n

All in all, if you like minimalistic in a great central location then this hotel is probably as good as any other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
