The transport system in Vienna is incredible. Modern trams, clean wide roads, rickshaws, buses, horse and carriage, taxis, underground system and of course you can walk everywhere in safety.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a>But there is so much to see here in Vienna that most transports are limited in giving a full overview of the main sites.<\/p>\n

We chose the Big Bus Company’s 2 day Premium 48 hour ticket which meant we could easily get to all the tourist hot spots and have audio guides along the way pointing out the highlights and history of this stunning city.<\/p>\n

Our first day was marred by poor weather, but despite this we were handed useful ponchos, helping us to keep dry for our tour.<\/p>\n

We joined the “blue route” on our first day so that we could get to the Sch\u00f6nbrunn Palace.<\/p>\n

Despite the heavy rain we were impressed with the smooth comfortable transport that was open sided upstairs, but had a covered top.<\/p>\n

Every passenger is given headsets to listen to the commentary in any of a dozen languages.<\/p>\n

When we finished at the palace and zoo which are not located in the centre of Vienna, we were glad of recognisable transport waiting for us to complete our blue tour and returning us very close to our hotel.<\/p>\n

The following day we took the red tour covering the other side of the city.<\/p>\n

This is a great way to literally hop on and off the bus and see different places.<\/p>\n

We did this and made our way by hopping off at stop 15, crossing the Danube on foot and then jumping on a tram a few stops to see the Hundertwasser apartments.<\/p>\n

In the evening we took further advantage of our Big Bus tour ticket to join a personally narrated night tour of the city for an hour before returning to the rear of the Opera House and then making our way for dinner at Vapiano almost opposite the drop off point.<\/p>\n

All in all excellent value, unlimited 48 hour use and stopping at all the sites you’ll want to see whilst in this amazing city.<\/p>\n

The Big Bus tour in Vienna<\/a> is highly recommended and can be booked when you arrive or in advance.<\/p>\n
