It was probably the hottest day of the year and we had a day out with friends in Buxton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little did we know that today was the annual carnival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The floats representing local businesses, community groups and charities pulled out all the stops. The locals too were part of the festivities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were wardens, people collecting for charity and the spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were markets and street performers too, many part of the Buxton Fringe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the time we left we decided to find a country pub for an early dinner and were advised to check out the one in Combs (pronounced like fumes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not a big place and on arrival the outside sitting area was full. Inside there was the bar and a small farm shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The menu was creative with everything from Pizza to traditional English dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were sides too and specials on the chalk boards on the wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were certainly no airs or graces, but just good wholesome food served by very friendly staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although we only had main courses because we were hot and tired, I wish we had had room for starters and desserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll be back very soon I suspect, to both Buxton and this little gem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
